A Beautiful Life,
Ruthlessly Taken Away.
Kristi was born February 27, 1981, in Los Gatos, CA. Her family was living in South America at that time, but since her mom had complications in her first delivery, she opted to have Kristi at the same hospital with the same Dr. as her brother, Derek. Plus, she got to come home from the hospital after a few days to her Gran and Papa Halls’ house close by.
When Kristi was six weeks old, she got her passport and traveled with her mom and brother from California to their home in South America.
Kristi was a little over a year old when her family returned to California, right back where she started from! Sunny poolside times with family, ballet lessons, beaches, swim meets, and birthday parties filled her happy days.
Kristi’s dad had a business opportunity moving the family from CA to Holland, MI. Lake Michigan living brought lots of snowy playdates, skiing and sledding into Kristi’s life. Springtime Tulip Festival celebrated miles of tulips in bloom, parades, and welcome sunshine. Kristi always made friends easily and her life continued to be surrounded with activities in the arts, athletics, skiing, boating and, of course, birthday parties!
Sadly, Kristi’s parents were not meant to be together any longer, and their marriage ended. Kristi and her brother, Derek, lived with their mom who bought a home in a little lakeside town, Saugatuck, not far from Holland, where their dad continued to live.
Kristi described her new little turn of the century home up a hill from town and close to the water as, “A happy home”. So starts the next chapter of Kristi’s life in Saugatuck.
Kristi continued to captivate friends with her sunshiny aura, allegiance, creativity, bright insights, and desire to seek fun. Kristi’s laser sailing skills earned her trophies during weekly regattas. Her horsemanship continued to bloom, basketball team, dancing, and during winter months, skiing came naturally to her athleticism.
Living in a summer tourist town, Kristi always jumped into working in shops, ice cream parlors or restaurants. Her ambitions were to head off to college after high school, but there was always a deep-down desire to go back ‘home’ to California.
After graduating high school Kristi attended Western Michigan University, joined Sigma Kappa, and headed down the path of freshman college life. After the end of her freshman year, her plan was put in place to move back to California and continue college there. Shortly afterwards, her mom followed Kristi moving back to her CA home state now that both the kids were out of the nest.
California, Here We Come!
A Bright Future
Kristi landed with family for a while before heading down to LA where she studied to become a makeup artist. Working on several independent films, Kristi realized she had other ambitions and continued attending college and working. She started out living in a cute apartment in West Hollywood and then migrated to Santa Monica to an apartment she shared with a couple other women.
Kristi loved living in LA while also being close enough to family to share in holidays and celebrations. Kristi had come home to the place she wanted to be. She was at the onset of starting her adult life.
Tragedy Strikes
Then, in February, 2003, Kristi tragically encountered a deadly and dangerous monster who took her from us. Even though this awful person has been sentenced to life in prison, Kristi’s family must fight to keep her convicted killer behind bars.
This November, he is up for parole for the murder of Kristi.
We need your help to keep this person behind bars for the rest of his life. Help us in honoring Kristi, by keeping this murderer locked away so that he cannot harm another innocent person.
